VM-Aware

As is becoming the norm of late another buyout has occurred, this time it is Vizioncore rivals and generally great software providers PlateSpin.

The acquisition comes from Novell, not content with buying all of these companies:

• SUSE
• e-Security
• SiteScape
• SiliconRepublic
• Ximian

Now that the Xen hypervisor has been integrated into SUSE, you can see where this acquisition may be going.

Everybody is well aware that PlateSpin makes some great products (PowerRecon, PowerConvert), but it sometimes seems difficult to justify the costs against free VMware alternatives (Capacity Planner, VMware Converter).

However, all it takes is a 15 minute demonstration of their products and it becomes immediately obvious why the money should be spent. (more…)
