EMEA General Manager Introduced

As you all may or may not know I work for Triangle Computer Services, a VMware VAC in the UK, so I had partricular interest in the new EMEA General Manager speech during todays general sessions.

Maurizio Carli, is the new (90 days in charge) General Manager of VMware EMEA and has some interesting points below as to why he took the job and what he wants to do in the future with partners.
After being introduced by Carl Eschenbach, Maurizio was asked why he took the job, Maurizio answered:

  • Virtualisation is priority number one for most customers when it comes operatinal implementation in the coming years.
  • VMware was particularly attractive due to it being the market leader in virtualisation, but more importantly it is the trend setter.
  • Whilst VMware is the market leader in virtualisation, Maurizio appreciates that there is still a lot of work to do

Maurizio went on to discuss his top priorities with partners, these are summarised below:

  • Partners have to concentrate on the value proposition of selling VMware and move away from the technology focus.  Maurizio believes that the better way to sell will be to focus on business benefits of VMware.
  • Expand the market into areas, both geographical and business, that have traditionally remained untouched.

Maurizio seemed extremely keen on getting to speak with partners and discuss the best way forward in these tough times.
