you're right Paul... the problem with other people is that they tend to make complex things more complicated. that's my very problem when it comes to MOSS 2007 lots of people here on the net are trying to explain that tool but sometimes they make it more confusing because of their nose-bleeding diagrams! but with that link you have included on your post i understand it better. I am actually a newbie to MOSS 2007 that's why i'm still having my SharePoint Training on http://www.solartechnj.com/sch_microsoft_sharepoint_training_moss.asp and i really enjoyed it a lot.

[...] even has a stab at Sharepoint, but I think that this is better handled by reading one of my earlier posts. Thanks to vinf.net for the original spot. [...]

Nice site, that will save me serious headache.
One pointer regarding sharepoint and virtualization is that it is licensed according to powered on VMs. So if you have for example a test and development system, fater devloping turn it of and turn the test system on and you would have to pay for one license only. At least that's my understanding from the below:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointserver/HA101655351033.aspx
"For example, if you are running an instance of Office SharePoint Server 2007 in each of the four VMs on a server, you need to assign four SharePoint Server licenses to that server
