RDMs In VMware VI3
How much difference do RDMs make when used in conjunction with VMware VI3?
I asked myself this question before implementing them for some SAP test & dev servers for all the SQL related drives.
I did a lot of research on RDMs and found some really useful pdf documents. Not least the slides that were used for the Virtulized Exchange & SQL Server session at VMworld 2007.
These slides gave some excellent insights into how best to deal with high I/O and CPU/Memory intensive applications, without reverting to the old “don’t do it” mantra.
Once I get some serious results back from the installation I will post any personal insights I can offer.
