VMware Partner Party

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

I’ve just got back from the VMware Partner shindig and I can tell you they seem to know how to put on a show.

5 tables of No-Limi Texas Hold

Belly Dancers

Free Food

Free Drink

Free Flashing Badges

So as you can see, for someone that likes food and drink as much me, this party was always going to be a winner.

The theme seemed to be Egyptian and very nicely decked out it was too.

I spent most of my time at the tables and had some success, clearing a few big pots.

If all the other parties are as good as this, then we could be in for a long week.

In the interest of fairness, having mentioned VMware’s VDM connection broker, I thought I would quickly mention Leostream’s new version of their connection broker.

Virtual SANs

Lefthand Networks are going to announce some cool new features in their SANIQ platform tomorrow.

It basically has all the same functionality of DataCore’s SANSymphony product, but centred more around iSCSI storage.

I found out that there is actually a Virtual Appliance on the VMware Appliance site click here whichwill give full functionality without having to install anything complicated.

An overview of all the functionality can be found below: (more…)

VMware ESX Server 3i

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

I know that strictly speaking XenSource came up with the first embedded hypervisor, but don’t mention that to VMware.

However, VMware have officially announced, the not so well kept secret, I first heard about this in conjunction with Dell servers. It is a great idea and all the major server vendors have been involved, including IBM, HP & Dell. (more…)

Capacity Planner

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Having just got out of a Capacity Planner best practices partner event, I must say, I didn’t learn anything new.

I wouldn’t mind, but it was penned as an advanced technical solution track. (more…)
